Story illustrations and mandalas for an Austrian children’s book project
For an Austrian client, we created the visual material for the book Das siebenfarbige Zauberarmband. The project included 17 interior illustrations, several mandalas and cover artwork. The images needed to support the magical world of the story, while the mandalas also offered children a creative colouring activity within the book.

A children’s book world with animals and magic
The illustrations needed to evoke a fairy-tale world of children, animals and magic. In a project like this, it is not enough for the images to be charming or visually appealing on their own. The characters, scenes and supplementary graphics need to work together, so the reader feels they are entering a magical but still accessible book world.
17 interior illustrations for the story scenes
The book included 17 interior illustrations. The images visually support the characters, atmosphere and key moments of the story. The aim was to make the scenes detailed and engaging for the target audience, while keeping them clear and easy to understand.
Mandalas as a creative colouring activity
Mandala design was a separate part of the project. These graphics required a different kind of visual thinking from the story illustrations. The mandalas needed to be symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable to colour, while preserving the level of simplicity that makes them usable for children.
Cover artwork and digital delivery within an eight-week process
In addition to the interior illustrations and mandalas, cover artwork was also created for the book. The complete material was delivered digitally as PDF and JPG files. The work was completed within eight weeks, which required a well-structured and consistent workflow for a combined illustration and graphic design package of this kind.
