A magical visual world for the story of Fűzkirály
For Gyarmati Judit’s children’s book Fűzkirály, we created the full visual book package: ten story illustrations, cover design, project logo and print preparation. The task was not simply to accompany the story with images, but to create a coherent book world where the magical atmosphere of the tale, the characters’ emotions and the visual identity of the publication all work together.
Project overview
A logo that established the book’s visual identity
The first step of the project was designing the project logo. Built around the motif of a fairy-tale tree and magical light, the logo evoked the world of the story and became the foundation of the book’s visual identity. It did not function as a separate graphic element, but as a starting point for the cover, interior illustrations and overall book design.
10 story illustrations shaped around the atmosphere of the tale
The book included 10 story illustrations. The images build a vivid, detailed world while keeping the key moments of the story in focus. In a children’s book like this, illustrations need to be more than visually appealing. They also need to help the reader enter the mood and rhythm of the tale.
Emotions and character relationships in the images
Particular attention was given to emotions and the relationships between the characters. For young readers, a character becomes understandable not simply because it is drawn well, but because its situation, reactions and connections can be felt. Gestures, facial expressions and composition therefore played an important role in the illustration work.
Cover design and print preparation as one coherent book
The cover design was a key part of the project, as it creates the first impression of the book. By arranging the text and illustrations in harmony, we created a welcoming cover that connects naturally with the interior visual world. Complete print preparation was also part of the work, giving the book a unified, print-ready appearance.
Do you need illustration and visual identity for a children’s book?
If you are planning a children’s book, a child-friendly story or a book project that could later grow into a series, it is worth thinking in terms of a coherent visual world from the beginning. Send a few details about the story, the characters and the planned publication format, and we can look at what illustration, cover or graphic direction would fit it best.
